It took me four days to build this website from scratch. Keep in mind, that I was able to work fast because I was the source of the content. I knew the subject well and just had to come up with the necessary bits. Which is not to say it is an easy job. But it isn’t hard for me when I know my stuff.
The main steps of building this website were:
- Coming up with the name and tagline.
- Choosing the theme.
- Creating content:
- Main menu: I mention it first, because it is the most important part of the website. It is built gradually, as you create pages.
- Text throughout the site.
- Images.
- Other files.
- Choosing plugins: what they are depends on your content and desired functionality.
- Favicon: an icon that will be associated with your website on the web.
Once your website is up and running
You will be paying a small amount of money for your domain and hosting, annually. You might also want to update your content every once in a while. You may do it yourself if you are familiar with WordPress or you may choose to hire somebody else to do it for you.
